What is The Best Website Builder for Small Business Needs?

Revolution Inc. | Website Builder for Small Business | Blog

What is the best website builder for my business is a question that many SME’s ask , and with good reason. There are many great website builders available for small businesses.

Some of the most popular options include Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, and WordPress (that we build with here at Revolution Inc.). Each platform has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to choose one that aligns with your specific needs and preferences. It may be helpful to read reviews and compare features before making a decision. Additionally, some website builders offer free trials or low-cost plans, so you can try them out before committing to a particular platform.

However, the builder platform is just one part of the puzzle when creating a great website. For instance, ensuring that you have great imagery, optimised for the web or a well designed logo isn’t something that the likes of Wix can provide! Also what about strategy? CRO? UX? or SEO? What do these even mean??? Finally what platform or functionality do you actually need? It’s a minefield!

Hiring the right agency will explain all this and much, much more…

So with this in mind we’ve put together some potential pros and cons of hiring an agency vs. using a website builder to build your website, feel free to add your comments below and if you have any further questions or think we’ve got something wrong then don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Using an Agency to Build your Website

Pros

Expertise: Web design agencies specialize in creating websites and have a team of professionals who bring different skills to the table, including design, development, and content creation. This means you’ll have access to expert knowledge and experience throughout the entire process.

Customisation: Agencies can create a fully customized website that’s tailored specifically to your business needs, including design, functionality, and features.

Time-saving: Hiring an agency can save you time, as you won’t have to worry about designing and building the website yourself. This frees up time for you to focus on other aspects of your business.

Ongoing support: Some agencies (like Revolition Inc.) offer ongoing support and maintenance services to ensure that your website stays up-to-date and secure.

Cons

Cost: Hiring an agency can be more expensive than building a website yourself or using a website builder. This is especially true for custom websites with complex features.

Lack of control: With an agency, you won’t have as much control over the design and development as you would if you built the website yourself. You’ll need to communicate your requirements clearly and trust the agency to produce a website that meets your needs.

Communication: Working with a larger agency can sometimes mean that you are talking to a multitude of different people, our recommendation would be to choose either a smaller agency or ensure you have a good project manager who understands your business model.

Using a Website Builder to Build your Website

Pros

Easy to use: Website builders are often very user-friendly and intuitive. You can drag and drop elements, use pre-designed templates, and customize your site with little to no coding knowledge.

Cost-effective: Website builders are typically much less expensive than hiring a professional designer or developer to create a website for you.

Speed: You can create a website in a matter of hours or days, instead of weeks or months.

Maintenance: Website builders often come with hosting and maintenance included, so you don’t have to worry about dealing with the technical aspects of running a website.

Cons

Limited design options: While website builders offer a lot of design options, they’re often limited compared to what a professional designer can achieve.

Customization: While website builders allow you to customize your site, there are often limitations on what you can do in terms of functionality and design.

SEO: Website builders often don’t have the same level of SEO capabilities as a professionally coded website.

Responsiveness: Some website builders may not be fully responsive (i.e. they do not display well on mobile devices etc.)

So as you can see there’s a lot to it and it’s not a clear cut decision – sometimes the minimal initial cost of a website builder can be seen as a real draw but when it takes your time away from growing your buiness it can actually cost you more in time wasted that could have been better spent elsewhere. We’re obviously biased here but at Revolution Inc. if we think a website builder is the best way for your business we’ll not be afraid to tell you – we’re good like that!
